According to figures from the Irish 2006 census – for towns with populations over 1500 – the town in Ireland with the largest percentage of homeowners is Portmarnock.

Clara has lowest percentage of Graduates

The town of Clara – according to analysis of Census 2006 figures – has just 6.54% of it’s residents with a third level degree or higher. (Those that have completed education)
This compares to Oranmore at the other end of the scale where 38% of the people are graduates .

Marriage versus Co-habiting

Married couples outnumber unmarried cohabiting couples in every Irish town – but there are large differences between the towns.
For example – Rathcormac in Cork has just 50% more married couples than co-habiting couples. This is the smallest difference in the country. At the other end of the scale is Bunbeg in Donegal  (An Bun Beag-Doirí Beaga)  where there are 2000% more married couples than cohabiting ones (  232 verus 11)

Dungloe  (An Clochán Liath) in Donegal is the town in Ireland with the highest percentage of single person households. Census figures show that 40.37% of households in Dungloe are occupied by just one person. (174 out of 431)

Irish Towns without Lithuanians or Poles

No Lithuanians or Poles:
These four Irish towns – according to the 2006 census – were the only towns without a single Polish born or a Lithuanian born resident. It seems strange that these 4 towns should be avoided in this way. Is there something strange about these towns or something different?

Polish immigrants have flocked to Ireland in the last few years – and they are present in almost every town in Ireland. Polish born people make up 2.09% of the population of Ireland – 96042 people in total.
There are only 8 towns in the Census of 2006 that had no  people born in Poland living in them.

Stradbally in Laois has the highest percentage of Irish born residents in the country – according to census figures.
1004 out of 1053 residents were born in Ireland – 95.35% of the population.
