			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>IBAL &#8211; The Irish Business Against Litter &#8211; have released their latest results on the litter in  50 towns and cities in Ireland.</p>
<p>Wexford came out as the cleanest place out of the 50 places in the survey &#8211; with Tallaght coming out as the worst Litter Blackspot.<br />
Of course &#8211; there could be towns cleaner than Wexford and just as dirty as Tallaght &#8211; but <strong>only towns with populations over 6000 are included</strong>.</p>

<p>The litter figures are produced by &#8221; Irish Business Against Litter &#8221; &#8211; an alliance of companies sharing a belief that continued economic prosperity &#8211; notably in the areas of tourism, food and direct foreign investment &#8211; is contingent on a clean, litter-free environment.<br />
As part of the IBAL Anti-Litter League, An Taisce monitors all towns of population 6,000 and over, independently in accordance with international grading standards.</p>

Several people became ill because of the poor water quality and tourism was badly affected. The bad news is that it could get worse for many other Irish towns.The following towns are some of the larger ones in Ireland  where drinking water supplies have been identified by the Environmental Protection agency as needing improvements because thay have inadequate treatment for Cryptosporidium. (Over 184 thousand people are supplied by these sub standard water schemes).</p>

Of all the towns with more than 5000 population &#8211; Ballina was the town with the  highest percentage of Catholics.<br />
