Latest census figures on education show that the town of Clones in County Monaghan has the largest percentage of people who ended formal educaton at Primary level – or had no formal education at all. 33.6% of Clones residents over 15 fall into this category. House Owners with No Mortgage. People living in Rural areas of Ireland are more likely to have no mortgage outstanding on their home. Tuam – highest percentage of Travellers

The 2006 census asked people if they were of Traveller background. In Tuam Co Galway –  7.81% of the town answered Yes – the highest percentage in Ireland. The town with the second highest concentration of Travellers is Longford at 4.63%. Other popular towns for travellers are: Birr  – 4.15% Ballinasloe   3.2% Ballina   2.83% Tullamore  

Ballyhaunis – most Asian born

Ballyhaunis in Co. Mayo has the largest percntage of Asian born residents – based on census 2006 figures. Asian born make up 9.9% of the population of Ballyhaunis, Nearby  Ballaghaderreen has the next highest at 7.42%.

Most Council Tenants in Rathnew

Rathnew in Wicklow – has the highest percentage of Local Authority rented housing in Ireland.  19.31% of the hosuing units in the town of Rathnew were recorded as Local Authority rentals in the 2006 census.  (123 homes out of 637 in total). Longford Town was just in second place with 19.3% Council Housing.

Stamullen – lowest percentage of rental property

Stamullen only has 6.3% of it’s housing occupied as rented accommodation – the rest is owner occupied. The 2006 census figures showed there were 873 housing units in Stamullen and only 55 of those were rented. Eight of those were rented from the Local Authority. This is the second lowest percentage of Council rented housing
