Connemara National Park – Located in connemara near the village of letterfrack on the N59, the connemara national park is a top attraction for visitors to Galway.It covers  2,957 hectares of scenic mountains,  bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. There is also a number of walking trails beginning at the Visitor Centre which offers walkers  scenic routes and nature trails through the park. A climb to the top of 400 metre high Diamond Hill is a must and gives views of the islands of Inishbofin, Inishturk and Inishshark. The park is also home to Connemara ponies, red deer and an enormous variety of bird-life.

 

Aran Island Tour – Located in the Galway Bay the aran islands will give a true Irish experience.You can explore Inis Mór, Inis Meáin, Inis Oírr or all three islands and find a wealth of historic sites, adventure activities and cultural attractions.All three of the Aran Islands have good restaurants, pubs, craft and gift shops, and there is a wide range of accommodation available including hostels, small hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs.Tour operators can pick you up from queen street in Galway City centre and take you to the islands by boat or Aer Arann offer a short 7 min flight to the islands.

 

Quay Street – Quay street is a lively, entertaining street right in the centre of Galway City, here you find many pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes which line the cobbled street.With  daily live Irish music in many of the pubs and buskers on the street it is a place to spend all day and night in.

 

Galway Cathedral – Looking over the river Corrib, is the Galway Cathedral. Built in 1958 the impressive Renaissance-style dome is Europe’s youngest  great stone cathedrals,  inside columns shoot up into the ceiling, transforming into curved arches that support a gigantic dome.Free of charge you can walk in for a stroll and leave amazed.

 

Sathill Promenade – Located within walking distance of Galway City centre or a short bus drive is Sathill Promenade which is two miles of promenade overlooking Galway Bay with spectacular views of Clare and the Burren. With a clean beach just off the promenade and many shops, restaurants, and attractions including an aquarium, Sathill promenade is defiantly worth a visit.
